Ears_3_9_10

We’re thrilled to welcome the following artists to Big Ears 2010:

• The amazing singer/sorceress/shapeshifter SHELLEY HIRSH will perform at Big Ears in collaboration with our good friends and neighbors, those ole timey avant-gardists from Chattanooga, the SHAKING RAY LEVIS, in what is certain to be one of the most unforgettable experiences of this year’s festival.  They will perform in a program with Ben Frost & Tim Hecker late Sunday afternoon.

AHLEUCHATISTAS bring the intricate intensity of their searing “math rock” constructions across the mountain from Asheville, NC…performing shows on both Saturday and Sunday afternoons.

VIDEOHIPPOS – some of whom were with us last year in another guise – will also pay us a visit from Baltimore, with their friends LESSER GONZALEZ ALVAREZ and DAMAGED PATIENTS .

• Other artists from throughout our region will include: ARGENTINUM ASTRUM, DESTROYED BY MAGNETS, FOREST MAGIC, eric-jon, MOUNTAINS OF MOSS, PAPER HATS, SHORTwave SOCIETY, VILLAGES, and WARBAND.

More shows announced (along with a few changes to the schedule)…
• IVA BITTOVA + THE CALDER QUARTET will present a special program to open the 2010 Big Ears Festival at the Knoxville Museum of Art on Friday evening at 5:00pm.   Also performing will be SAM AMIDON and perhaps other special guests to be announced.

• SAM AMIDON will also perform a solo show at the Square Room on Saturday afternoon – following his performance with the 802 Tour – along with Paper Hats, Mountains of Moss, and eric-jon.

• LITURGY have added a second show on Saturday afternoon at the Square Room.  They will share the bill with IVA BITTOVA, who will perform a solo set.

• NICO MUHLY and DOVEMAN will give a duo performance on Sunday afternoon, performing before ST. VINCENT at the Bijou Theatre.

A couple of schedule changes:

• THE BANG ON A CAN ALL-STARS will perform works by David Longstreth, Thurston Moore, Michael Gordon, and Evan Ziporyn prior to THE 802 TOUR performance at the Bijou Theatre on Saturday afternoon.

• WILLIAM BASINSKI and DJ/rupture will both perform before the DIRTY PROJECTORS on Saturday afternoon at the Tennessee Theatre.
